DJ is most known for his high energy and positive attitude when instructing. His ability to personalize each lesson is an asset to anyone who wants to feel comfortable as they begin or continue to learn guitar. Students can expect to feel inspired and motivated in this exciting and fantastic atmosphere. In an effort to continue his own education, DJ is always in active search of new methods and techniques.  Currently, DJ studies with the world renowned Chris Broderick.

Influences: “Regardless of genre, the music just needs to make me feel something. ANYTHING! If it can create a change in my emotional state or body language that means it was real. And that I can respect.”

Metal / Rock: Chris Broderick, Dimebag Darrell, Jeff Loomis, Paul Gilbert, Chris Adler, Dave Silveria, Marty Friedman, Matt Helie, Mark Morton, Devin Townsend and plenty more…. Plenty!

Classical: Paco De Lucia, Beethoven, Mozart, Andres Segovia, Itzhak Perlman,Bach and Morgan Zentner

Jazz: Mark Ward, Charlie Parker, Buddy Rich, Miles Davis

Country: Garth Brooks and Brad Paisley

Songs:  Chopin’s Nocturne in C# minor,  Theme from Schindler’s List, Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, and plenty others but I would run out of space!

Special Note: When I was 17 I got the opportunity to watch my high school band teacher play trumpet in his Jazz group at the Chilliwack Jazz Festival.  He played trumpet and sang “It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Aint Got That Swing”.  That was the first time I got to see him really play the style that he loved and I understood what real passion for your art was.

Originally established in 2007, TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY was created as a vessel for innovative methods in teaching and inspiring students of all ages. The mission statement was simple, “Create a positive atmosphere that allows for an individual’s growth and shatter the stereotypes of the industry.”

The TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY is home to the most successful and creative teachers who possess a cutting edge mentality to instruction. Each instructor is thoroughly interviewed, referenced and examined before being considered for a position.

Students of the TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY learn about art. They learn how to play. More importantly, they learn to find their voice and how to express it. The lesson never stops with the note of a song on a page. Instead, it continues with the sharing of expression to anyone willing to listen. Enroll with us if you want to learn beyond what it means to “Play that note.”

The TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY can easily boast the youngest age for enrollment! Students can start as young as 4 years old with some of our instructors. Currently our youngest student is 4 and our oldest is 87.

Music is one of the most artistic expressions known to humanity. It is an art form that can transcend languages and cultures. True expression is the most sincere form of communication. Learn to play. Learn to communicate. Learn from The TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY.
